Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your being selected to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. You were nominated by your peers and ultimately selected by President Obama because of your outstanding teaching performance, your creativity in the classroom, and your commitment to awakening within students a deep appreciation of the beauty and importance of mathematics and science. In doing so, you have exemplified the traits that the President and I believe will be central to our nation’s ability to build a stronger and more secure future.
